What is a valvetronic sensor?

The Valvetronic sensor measures the position of the eccentric shaft in the cylinder head which controls the variable valve lift system on the intake side of the engine. The Valvetronic system essentially controls the engine speed by varying the lift of the intake valves.

What are the symptoms of a bad eccentric sensor?

Anyone had experience with their Eccentric Shaft Sensor going bad? The car has been idling irregularly at times and the car would vibrate when idling. Having the sensor replaced tomorrow and hopefully that will solve the problem. Fingers crossed.
