Classification of Wiper Motors:
1. According to the magnetic field structure.
Wiper motor can be classified into two categories according to their magnetic field structure – wound type and permanent magnet type. The magnetic field of the wound type motor is composed of magnetic poles and coils. The coil generates a magnetic field when energized, and the motor works by changing the magnetic flux. The permanent magnet type motor, on the other hand, is powered by a magnetic field generated by a magnet. The magnetic poles of the magnet are made of ferromagnetic permanent materials, which have the advantages of small volume, light weight, simple structure, reliable operation, and low cost. Nowadays, it is widely used in automobiles.
2. According to the control mode.
Wiper motors can be classified into two types according to their control mode – mechanical rotation type and electronic control type. Mechanical rotation type wiper motors use a worm gear mechanism to output a 360° rotation movement. They are characterized by simple structure, low production cost, strong anti-interference ability, and are mainly used in mid- to low-end models. Electronic control type wiper motors, on the other hand, use an ECU control chip to achieve 160° reciprocating movement of the worm gear mechanism. They have the advantages of continuous change of wiper frequency, stable output, overload protection, larger wiping area, more flexible assembly space, etc. They are the future development trend of wiper motors. However, the price is relatively expensive, and the manufacturing process is complex. Currently, they are mainly used in high-end models.
Overall, wiper motors have made significant progress in terms of structure, performance, and control technology. With the development of technology, the future of wiper motors looks bright and they are expected to continue to improve and evolve.
