The Valvetronic sensor measures the position of the eccentric shaft in the cylinder head which controls the variable valve lift system on the intake side of the engine. The Valvetronic system essentially controls the engine speed by varying the lift of the intake valves.

What are the symptoms of a bad eccentric sensor?
